Chronic inflammation almost always lurks beneath the surface of diabetes and excess weight. You can't see or feel it, but this type of inflammation increases the risk of coronary heart disease, the leading cause of death among people with diabetes.

Processed sugars and other high-glycemic starches increase inflammation, just as they raise blood sugar, according to an article in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition).

I use a lot of them, but salmon is something I know I should eat more of, just don't care for it too much. I will eat it if someone else cooks it, but I don't like to cook fish. I do it, but I eat the cheaper types.

Gabby, you could try smoked salmon. You don't have to cook it.

It's not like locks or something is it? Not a fan...but I do like sushi, so I am not sure why. I think it is all a mental thing. Meaning that I am mental about it...LOL

Lox is more moist than what is usually purchased as smoked salmon. The smoked has a sort of woodsmoke scent and woodsy flavor and is usually drier. It's good.

Sushi is primarily rice and seaweed wrapped around a lot of things including raw fish or othe seafood. I don't eat it because of the rice, but used to really enjoy the California rolls with avocado.

Poki is a more moist presentation of uncooked seafood that is used here in Hawaii a lot like a side dish or salad.

Sashimi is raw, thinly sliced fish like ahi. In real shashimi grade fish, it is good. It's about the only fish I feel safe eating uncooked.

I like eel sushi. I don't eat it now either because of the rice. And it is not the same without it. So I just skip it. It's expensive anyway...oh well.
