Have any of you tried a Mediterranean diet? If so, what changes, if any, did you see in your diabetes control?

Several recent studies support this diet as a way to control blood sugar and reduce the need for medications. We write about some of those studies here:

I switched to a Mediterranean diet after a hospital stay and after medicine did not reduce my cholesterol enough. After 6 months eating lots of fish, nuts, fruit, and olive oil, my bad cholesterol was down and good cholesterol was up. Feel better and enjoy my food more. It really works!

I am a type I diabetic and changed to the mediterranean diet several months ago. I began having many lows (which I usually don't have) My doctor has had to lower my basal insulin (I'm on an insuling pump)dosage 3 times since starting and I really feel good as long as I stay on this diet lifestlye. I am amazed at what it has done for me…I highly recommend it to diabetics or anyone.
