Since joining DC I have read alot about diet and exercise. Just wondering what type of exercise you do and how often. I'll start. Before this condition the most excercise I did was getting off the couch:) LOL. I have a stationary bike which I try to ride every morning. I usually average about about 5-6 minutes which adds up to 1.5 miles and when my wife goes to the gym, I tag along and use the tredmill and walk for 20 minutes or 5 miles. I do see a little improvement in my B/S is when I exercise and stick to my diet. Like some wrote, thank you D for making me life healthier which I am now doing at my age.It is never to late to start. So lets hear it I will be reading the replies. Have a healty life my friends.

most every morning, I either do yoga to one of my DVDs, or I do 30 minutes of the yoga and strength training combined on the Wii fit plus. Then late afternoons, when I am home, I do 30 minutes on the treadmill of fast walking ,or I walk fast all around our subdivision wearing my pedometer and try to do two miles. Other days I do other types of aerobic exercise, so some days I am doing half hour total, most days I do an hour, just 30 mins. morning, 30 mins. evening. I love exercises with the flexibility ball, one of the large ones, and I have a small one they call a medicine ball and work out to the DVDs that came with those at times too, I try to mix it up so it doesn't get boring. Also, playing games with your kids on the Wii standing up is always good too and I jump on my daughter's trampolene with her.

WOW I'm tired just reading your reply. I was never a exercise person but I was active. Now I am trying to build up stationary bike riding from 5 min. to 15 and 20 min. tredmill walking to a 30 min. walk.

Before being diagnosed the only exercise I got was housework and yard work. Now I walk my grandson to and from school each day, which is a total of 2 miles.
I use our Wii Fitness Plus and play games on the Wii with my grandson. My husband bought it for us shortly after I was diagnosed.
For Valentines Day my husband gave me a membership for Curves and I have been going 5 days a week.
When the weather warms up I will be returning to riding my bike.

I usually get to the gym 5 days a week. Since my gym is open 24/7 I can go pretty much any time.

I try to walk on my lunch hours. I'm up to 2.5 to 3 miles a day now. Weekends I slack off a bit, but we're usually off somewhere like taking our daughter and her friends to the mall, the local flea market or we like to tour model homes for decorating ideas. I take my exercise anywhere I can get it! LOL!

I was walking at least an hour every other and the other days I was swimming laps for at least an hour. But in, the fall 2010 we rescued a mare and her 4 month old foal. So the exercise went out the window. In the last 6 months, we acquired another horse, big enough for me to ride. So after 8 to 10 hours of work, I go and spend an hour or 2 at the stables. That’s my exercise now.
But anything can do will help.

Any way you exercise is better than sitting around watching the boob tube. The winter time is bad for me since I am an out door person. That is why I joined the healt club with my wife.

Ya, I know what you mean, esp. durning NSCAR and football season starts. But we do go to a couple of races a yr. I have a desk job, which is really bad, because sometime, I get so engrossed in what I'm doing I don't get up sometime for 3 or 4 hours… Takeing care of the horses, is very labor intensive, so I get a good work out in and hour or so…
Anything that get us off our butt works…
Good luck JSJB…

I have an assortment of aerobics DVD's and calisthenics that I mix it up with. Also, when I go for a walk, I make sure it's no less than 20 minutes. The 20 minute walks don't take me far but at least I'm up and moving. Eventually I'll get the weight machine set up.

I like cardio - have a collection of tapes. When it's warm I like to hike!

I love to get out and walk ea day…when it is cold or rainy, I walk in the mall.

When I mall walk my wife laughs at me because I walk slow and I eat when I walk. I don't know if I accomplish anything but I am relaxed doing it.

I usually walk. I live near a large park, which makes it nice. I must admit that I don't get as much exercise during the rainy season though.
