I have Type 2 Diabetes, and have had it for over 6 years. I have been Hospitalized 2 times and lately on Insulin have be still spiking. Well i been working my Diet plan and exercising and it was still spiking. So i came across something on Bitter Melon and i have been taking it and so far my Blood sugar levels are down and stable. Its been used by Asian to treat Diabetes and control weight. Here in USA there have not been much studies on it, i think it will put Insulin out of Business. But I'm giving it a chance and i will keep u up to date on whats going on. Like i said i do exercise and diet as well and take Insulin too. I have not lost much weight which i hope to do as well. I have a Dr. appointment and I'm going to ask him to let me get of Insulin and may go to Pills. This is a big Step in my to get off Insulin. That's my main Goal is to one day be Insulin Free. I'm so tried of Injecting myself.
What do u think Community?
Just hoping,

I've been taking Bitter Mellon, also artichoke tablets for a couple of weeks. Seems to be initially helpful. Been sick and not too regular with suppliments, but would have expected more BG issues with pain and infection, than I have had, so think this is promising.

Didnt know about the Artichoke tablets, i may try them too. I'm going all natural suppliments and well see how it goes.

Hey Hue! I've never really looked at James' meal plan, but I've hung around long enough to know I'm pretty much on the same one. My biggest improvement in control came from making my diet a routine and resonably the same each day. Sure there was a lot i gave up (but needed to anyway), but by staying reasonably level, I've found I react better to spikes when I cheat.
Best of luck with your experiment - looking forward to your findings!

Thank u Nick, I'm open to all meal plans and i have given up a lot as well. I'm not as consistent on meal plan i don't like eating the same thing everyday, but i do eat Diabetes planed meals from Cook Books. So any recipes that seem good i would like to have them. I will keep all informed on my journey to get off Insulin. I also wounder what different type pills are out there that i may try when i get to the point of not taken Insulin?

Howdy Hue my friend!

I pray you have good success with your experement. I pray you get off insulin, and in fact, all diabetes meds. In Feb 2011 I started an experement of my own.

I dropped insulin from my diabetes care and chose to manage my T2 diabetes by what I ate and didn't eat and by what little exercise I did alone. By this time I have maintained Blood Glucose (BG) levels at or near normal levels, my last A1c was 5.5 and a year later I had lost 65 lbs. I eat a rather extreme meal plan but not having to inject insulin twice a day is worth it to me. Should you wish to take a peek at what I do, I would be willing to send you a copy of it via DC inbox.

Blessings to you and yours Hue!

James, your message was 3 years ago and I was wondering if your plan was still working for you since I thought you were now on dialysis. What exactly is your diet>? I would also like a copy. Perhaps you should give it to me publically so the others can see it also.

I have to say for the first time today my reading was 66 I was so surprised, i also walk 2 miles every other day, and need to lose 30 pounds. I ordered mine online: {www.charanteausa.com} also the GNC store has it and it coast more there; i plan to find the powder in Asian or Indian stores so i can put it in my food as well if u can find the plant it is twice as better if u use a juicer and drink the juice. They say the taste is very strong but the effect are twice as good. I trust this site OK, but i feel u get what u pay for so i plan when this subst. runs out i will try the GNC product and see if there is any difference in them. For now the cheaper one works just fine. Also remember to exercise and have a good meal plan to go with it.
good luck to u as well and i hope u have the same success too.

I am now trying virgin coconut oil (1 tsp) per day. It seems to be working. I found an article about it and it sounded reasonable so I am trying it. It tastes good. I put it in my cereal or cook with it, or plop it into whatever I'm about to eat and it goes from a solid to a liquid. My friend eats it by itself as a solid. Whatever way you try it, it seems to work to get rid of carbs in your body.
