Ok, so I have had NLD since I was 18… I'm not 25, last year I finally had answers that I had NLD and was also diabetic. Pretty much the worst news to get all at once. When I was 18 I had a small spot about the size of a half dollar. I had a biopsy done, which just pissed the thing off and it grew to about triple the size, still didn't get any answers at that point just a pat on the back and a "it'll go away on it's own". Anywho now as allll of you know that didn't happen. Last year I started going to some really great doctors that diagnosed me with NLD started on steroid cream, and then went to the shots. They were working but then I lost my insurance. So now Spot has decided to get back at me… My problem is, I have been careful keeping him wrapped up so my pants can't even rub on it. Now though without any injury or anything to him, I am getting shooting pains on the outside of it, I don't know if it means that Spot is going through a growth spurt or what… Does anyone else have this issue????? I am going out of my mind thinking that I have done something to piss him off AGAIN. And here I thought we had a really good working relationship here lol.

Anything ya'll have would be awesome to hear. Thanks!

Hi! I have had nld since I was about 19. Started out as what I thought was a bug bite on the back of my ankle. So A couple of years go by and it spread so I finally went and saw a dermatologist. A year later of him treating it with everything under the sun, he finally did a biopsy, which in turn gave me. a dianosis of diabetes. I have since had creams, shots and even laser surgery… That really made it worse! It then spread all over the top of my foot.. The open sores made it difficult to wear shoes! So 20 years later, I have lots of scarring. It has even spread to my other leg. I can tell when its about to spread… Feels like rubber bands snapping. I was a smoker during this entire time. I switched to an e CIG last July and have seen marked improvement since decreasing the nicotine amounts.I hope this helps!

Sounds like something I have on my right shin. I did get it Dx'd in 2009 and got some topical cream for it but I forgot what the PCP said I had. The topical cream got lost in my move from where I was in the SF bay area to Las Vegas. I haven't paid much attention to it since except to note it is still there. An article from Medscape is appended here ~

I got the NLD when I was 58. I am now 60 and still have it. I have other more pressing issues to deal with right now. Perhaps later.

I do not and have not kept mine bandaged. I do bump it occasionally and I will bleed and scab up but it has not been a problem, and before long the scab will dry up and fall off.
