Like you, I found out my A1C was 13.1 and apparently that's bad (I'm new). Some time went by, and my results yesterday was 7.7
I have been glued to Fung's book on Fasting, which is bringing me loads of success, that, and Metformin 500x2 daily. Enjoy the book.

You are doing very good. There is no instant resolution to diabetes. You need to keep plugging away. Exercise and diet are the key. Cut the carbs and burn the calories. That is the surest way to control diabetes and lower your A1c.
Be patient. Kkeep up the good work and your next A1c will be lower and the following one should show acceptable numbers.
Good luck.

I'll second what Uncle Lew said. It takes a while to flush it out of your system. Once it does get down in the good range, establishing an eating routine will help keep it there. A 5 point drop is very good so keep working at it!
