How's your daughter doing? My daughter is 2 years old and she just got diagnosed with type 1 on last Saturday.

What about making or purchasing a sugar free cake/pastries. They taste just as good as the sugar laden variety. And please wish the little lady a happy birthday from me. Even tho she doesn't know who I am. (1/2 the time I'm not sure who I am. ;)

Ask the bakery if they do cakes for diabetics, and if so, how is it made and also look at the nutrition facts before ordering.

You know Doctors can not be called for every little thing

I suggest going to the recipe section on the side of the tool bar here.
Put in the search term cupcake.
There are some good recipes there and that provides portion control.
I do understand type 1's can have some sugar so with the portion control and a revised recipe I think you all can enjoy her day

Could you tell us what age she is?

Old enough to be really conscious of what is "different" about her party. I think I'd check on a sugarfree cake or sugarfree cupcakes. The cupcakes would be my choice, because it provides quantity control for everyone … again the "treat them all the same idea".

Sorry you got caught in all the rest of this byplay that must look really odd to you. We had a person on the site who was having some issues with social appropriateness and was raising the ire of a number of contributers.
