I found out I am allergic to Glipzide, last weekend had a horrible experience with it. Now my doctor wants we to start this med half a tab 50mg this weekend, Have anyone here ever taken this before? I am very scared to take it after my last med bought. I already take 2000mg of metformin now. Any advise would be so appreciated. Thanks Mary :)

I was on Januvia for 4 years nothing else and I had no problem. Very good results and my ability to exercise has been hindered by degenerative disks in my back. Just had full back fussion in july of 2011. My A1c has been under 6.5 while on Januvia.

Encouraging to be up and around again!!!

This has always been one of my fears: I broke L5 in an auto accident and resulting disk damage which can be progressive as you well know looms as a potential in my future. I'm doing all I can to avoid that! Glad to hear your's is improving.

I've been a diabetic for over 17 years with no complications so far. I have been on the max dose of Januvia (100mg) for over a year now. I also take Metformin. The bottom line is my bg is well managed. I was able to manage my bg with just exercise and diet for the 1st 6 years, then gradually over the years I needed more meds. You will here good and bad about all meds. There are pros and cons of course. Only you along with your doctor can determine if a med is worth the risk. Taking most of the available meds is definitely better than risking high blood sugar. I hope this is helpful !

Thank you, yes it is very helpful. My doctor is starting me on 2 sample packs at 50mg (tablet cut in half) to get use to them. Then I will take 1 whole tab a day with the metformin, if I have on complications. As I have gotten older it seems my body doesn't want to play nice anymore!
