Many of you may know about my grandmother, but I am in need of many prayers for my aunt, She recently found out she has type 2 diabetes, also IBS , everything she does for her diabetes courteracts IBS she also has diaticulities for a week now she has not been able to keep anything down they admitted her to the hospital yesterday. But since she has found out about the two diseases she has she has lost an extreme amount of weight, not in a good way, both of these diseases has made her drop weight like over night. She said that she can no longer stay strong that she is tired of hurting and tired of being sick and that she was just ready for her life to be over, She is only 51 or 52 she has four grown children who adore her and three grandchildren, Her youngest son just turned 18 yesterday and is going to start college this next september. Please help me pray that the doctors can help her get better, help her to be able to control both diseases she has and be able to live her life again. And if you have any advice on how to control Type 2 Diabetes and IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) please tell me so i can tell her to help her and her children out with ideas that might work. I have told her about this site and she is hoping when she gets better that she can check it out herself and make friends.

I feel so badly about your aunt. I will hold a good and positive thought that she will be much better very soon. Her condition must be overwhelming to her. While Diverticulitis is not at all a rare condition especially after 40 years of age, your aunt's condition is, of course, complicated by her diabetes and IBS. A low carb diet can make all the difference in her life. There were some great sites on the web regarding how low carb will make IBS and it's symptoms clear up and have the patient feeling so much better quickly. Google IBS and low carb Low carb will also go a long way to helping your aunt control her blood sugars. My husband went on low carb 9 years ago, he lost 80 pounds in 9 months, came off of 43 units of insulin, eliminated severe and painful neuropathy and the pain medication that he had been taking for 15 years for that neuropathy, eliminated profuse night sweats due to hypoglycemia and so much more.
You are a great person and it is beautiful to see hear how much your care about your beloved aunt and her family. Get Dr. Bernstein's book, "Diabetes Solution". It saved my husband's life and it may save your aunts. :) God bless you.

thank you guys so much for your prayer we still need them strongly tonight is not a good night for my aunt, she got out of the hospital a few days ago, they found out she has diverticulitus, they gave her meds for but for three days she cant hold anything down to eat, so she isnt keeping her meds down, the drs cant seem to do anything that is really helping her get any better or be able to keep food down, she stays awake almost all night cause she is hurting so bad. i just pray that we find an answer tomorrow, and that also pray and hope that the answer helps her and doesnt make her worse, she was able to come visit my grandmother over the weekend and i dont want that to be the last time we get to see her she has got to get better i dont know what i will do if i lose my aunt and my grandmother anytime soon. thank you all god bless

I know nothing about IBS. Wish I could help, but I can only pray. Your family needs healing physically and emotionally as many do.

Keep yourself cared for, rested and nurtured. With all the work you do, take time for fun and restoration. You need it to be able to help the way you are with these loved ones! Let us know how everyone is doing and love to you

Hi Sweetie-boy you have alot on your plate right now! I'm so sorry. I , too, have diabetes and IBS, and it's a whole lot of not fun, especially when you don't know what will set it off next! The fiber pills are really supposed to help, I haven't tried them, but I am going to, since probiatic pills aren't helping!
James is a good source of info on this topic as well, and he is on the IBS site, along with re1ndeer, and me (not so much, tho) and they are helpful there too!
Seems like when it rains it pours, but its early in the year yet, and things will start looking up soon. It's not gonna be a bad year asll year!
Message me if you like, you know how to find me..
Take care :)

Michelle, what a wonderful niece you must be to attempt to find a solution for your aunt. Here is my story and what has worked for me. I too, am Type 2, which was diagnosed when I had colon resection surgery. This surgery was done due to diataviculosis and pre cancer cells. Instead I continued to have severe IBS. even afterward. UGH My gastro doc suggested I try a medication that has helped "some" patients. Desipramine is a medication for depression, but when used in very low doses it works for IBS. This is what my doctor explained to me. I tried it at 40mg and it has changed my life. I have NO symptoms of IBS and lead a normal life. Your aunt may want to discussed this with her doctor. good luck. and I will add your aunt to my prayer list. God Bless Mayse

I have both diabetes and IBS. This is one problem that I wish your aunt did not have. But it is do able. First off have your aunt talk to a nutritionist and explain, that she has both diabetes and IBS. The Nutritionist should help her plan, a meal program that suits her (as not all IBS patients have the same problems), I'm assuming your aunt has the diarreha form of IBS, because of her weight lost. This is going to sound strange but, doctors recommend that you take a fiber supplement whether you have diarreha or constipation.

I have a site that will explain more of this in detail that you may want to take a look at. Here is the site: http://ibs.about.com/od/relatedconditions/a/I...

I will send prayers out for your aunt that she will have a speedy recovery.
