Hello! I have diabetes but this concern is one for my mom who has Type 2 diabetes and also has acute leukemia. Her potassium is getting low but many of the foods like potatos and bananas that are good for potassium affect the blood sugar. Any suggestions?? Thanks!!

There's a list I've found that has a high amount of Potassium and only 2 or 3 of the 10 suggestions would raise one's BG levels much at all. It is found here ~

There is one which is more complete, but may take some time, thought, and fiddling with the controls a bit to figure it out, here ~

It is interesting to me that your mother's nutritional needs are completely opposite of mine.

I have Chronic Kidney disease and need to eat a low potassium meal plan. And a lot of the things which are good for me as a Person with diabetes, are not good for my Kidney disease.

Praying for you and your mom to both live long and as healthy lives as possoble.

To your better health

See if your doctor would recommend use of potassium chloride instead of regular salt which is sodium chloride. I used it for a number of years when I first started to cut back on salt. It tastes about the same, but does raise Potassium level while lowering the sodium count.
