There were a couple of things in there that I had thought may be true, but this confirmed from a medical expert they are true.

My interest was triggered by a recent discussion about neuropathy in situations not relating to diabetes. I'd never thought of it in that context, never heard the term prior to hearing it w/r/t D, so found it quite interesting.

yes there are many diseases and conditions which may give one neuropathy. But diabetes, I believe, makes up for most of the neuopathy cases.
