Have you kept your resolutions so far or have they already fallen along the way? Has the beginning of this New Year show promise of what's to come? The New Year has been good to me so far. I've kept my resolutions and even enrolled in Collage to be a Social Worker. How is your New Year going?

It kind of slapped me in the face yesterday. My mom moved to Arizona and she left yesterday. It was emotional. Even though we have lived apart more than together, that is the farthest away we have been...I got a little blue. Ate too many carbs. But today I am back on track. Still missing her, but not wallowing in it.

Where in AZ is she? Perhaps I can keep an eye on her for you? You know, surrogate daughterhood! rivate message me if you'd like to :)

She is going to Prescott. She is staying with her brother until she gets a place of her own.

I find that my smile is what keeps me sane and moving forward. Keeping an attitude of gratitude even when I don't feel like it is always uplifting if I can manage to stick to the game plan. A lot of what we deal with comes from our attitude in how we deal with it.

Well…2012…I'm healthy, happy, and loved! But still no work for over two years…two more weeks of savings and I am flat broke…Other than that, I feel great!
Anyone else feel the unemployment bind? I am either overqualified or under qualified…arg!

it was like that for me too (before my disability) only I was seeking work during BOOM times in LV. So it wasn't the economy at that time. I can only shudder to think what I would face out there today if I was able bodied. My (late) wife Jem's nephew was an Electrician in SF Bay area in CA. He's been out of work for 4 years. It IS TOUGH OUT THERE ALL OVER.

I really hate to say this, but so far it has been awful. I am having serious problems at my job after 11 years. It is very disappointing.

I am so sorry that your having job problems, especially after 11 years. I sincerely pray they work out for the good for you and 2012 will bring you joy, not sadness. Keeping you in my prayers and thoughts, let us know how it goes. Hugs to you, Valentine Lady

You are very kind. I am sad to say…it has gotten worse.
I am grateful for your words, prayers and thoughts.
It's rough to be ill and then distressed and threatened unnecessarily.

So, I went to Curves on Tuesday, signed up and scheduled my "trainer " workout for yesterday. 2PM yesterday, I begin to get progressively sicker. Apparently there are several strains of flu going around here that the flu shot does NOT cover! Ain't that a kick in the pants! So I went over anyway, signed my contract, paid my dues, and rescheduled for next week. I AM going to do this, and 2012 WILL be a better year!! I totally intend to get healthier, maybe lose some weight, and get of of at least one of my medicines. Not a resolution, a goal, and I CAN do this (once the flu finds someone else to annoy!)!

I have not messed up but I still do not feel well. I think my goal is unrealistic.

Dear Jan; you didn't mention what your goal is but if it's making you feel bad then maybe you should rethink it. If it's a diet, remember your a diabetic and have to be ever so careful about things like that. Keeping your eating, carbs and calories all in balance or you pay for it. Wish I could help, maybe you could tell us more for more advice. Hugs to you, Valentine Lady

((((Valentine Lady))))))), my goal is trying to feel better and have more energy. I really stick to my diet but many times I am not hungry for all the veggies. I think I am veggied out. Do eat correct amts. protein, carbs. My doc says there is no rhyme or reason as to my very low or high blood glucose readings. I have many autoimmune diseases and sometimes they all kick in at once. So,most days I do not feel well but when i do have energy i use it with caution. i guess i just need to roll with it. it's pretty complex. Thanks for listening.

So far, I have had a great progress. I am taking small steps so that I don't burn out in the first few weeks. I am happy with how things are going so far.

Hi Peggy, I am working on finding a job and debating going back to school for my Masters in Forensic Psychology or Homeland Security. I went back to school and graduated in 2007 with a degree in Criminal Justice and did it with honors. I did it all online. I wish you the best of luck.

Joyce: Hi and how are you? Whow you're my new hero…I'm working towards my BS, then maybe my Masters. Thing I've always wanted to do and I think I can really do some good out there. I have more then plenty life experiece just wish that's all you need. LOL…thank you for the vote of confidence, I needed that. Now for you, GO BACK, go back and get that degree. Hugs to you, Peggy

Peggy, I was the oldest in my classes and even older than a few of my instructors. The odds are good you will have more life experiences than your classmates but hang in there. If you need help with papers, I will gladly edit for you.

Good question V. It's never to early to start checking ourselves. I'm still trying to fight the urge to overeat. I did an amazing job during Thanksgiving but gave into temptation during Christmas. As a result, my numbers fell off big time. I'm finally back to the point of waking with a fasting # around 130-140. It used to be about 110-115. But I'm still working on it.

The other thing is, I need to get more exercise in my routine. I have been making more of an effort this week but it's still difficult to get syked up for even a simple 30 minute walk. My goal is to enroll in the gym up the street and get in there at least 3 days a week.

PC, sounds like a plan, now go for it. The only person who can motivate you is you. Go to the gym and get a trainer, he/she will motivate you until you can do it on your own. Hope to hear from you soon…V

pc my sister has a membership at Planet Fitness but since I can no longer drive, it is not easy going on the bus. I may do just that once the weather warms up.

A social worker Peggy ? That is fantastic! I pray you enjoy that! Are you going for any particular level or degree?

Me? I have had ups and downs already in 2012 but it does look to be a potentially promising year in many ways. I am awaiting my Kidney labs back so I can go to my Renal Dr and decide if I will be going back on dialysis or not.

Dear James: I'm still praying for you and "if" you have to back on dialysis we'll help you deal with that then. Right now I am praying your numbers look good and a kidney is close in coming.

Yes, I have gone back to be a Social Worker, all on line. I'm going for my BS then maybe we'll see. I may not be satisfied with just a BS, then I'll go for my Masters. But James I think I really can do some good out there. I have enough life experiece to make 2 lives. If that's all it took I'd be in a Rape Crisis Center somewhere working with somebody right now. LOL

Let me know about the dialysis and how all that goes, I really want to know.
Special Hugs to you, your friend. Peggy

jayabee52 2012-01-12 17:05:58 -0600 Report

Thanks Peggy for your kind words!

I actually am NOT afraid of dialysis because I have already "been there done that" before. And if I go back on I am expecting to get some of my former stamina back, so if I go back on there could be some plusses for me too. But the copays for dialysis are killers on my insurance so my frugal nature would rather I not go on it.

I don't know if you knew my "Jem" was a LCSW. It was special to be married to her. She had studied a year of law wanting to become a lawyer, but the legal school had lied to her telling her that they had a program for blind people, but there really wasn't. So she stopped that, and went into social work instead. IMO (and I told her this) she not have the shark-like personality of a lawyer. Her personality was more suited to be a social worker. She was such a ray of sunshine in my and other people's lives.

Thanks again
