Islets to cure Diabetes?

Has anyone read up on the new study? It seems pretty interesting. Opinions? Here's one site on the subject. I think there's more information on Diabetic connect but I can't seem to find it.

I saw something about this several years ago. There was a show on Discovery Health. This guy had something wrong with his pancreas and they removed it. Somehow his Islets were extracted and they gave them back to him and it seemed to work. He still had to be very careful about what he ate and check his sugar but it did seem to work.

Islet research is very promising. I remember there being trials in Canada with patients being insulin free for 1yr— the down side is that they needed immune suppression drugs.
