I have to go shopping today and get the things that sre good for me. And I have three boys they will be eating what I have to eat, when I go walking they go with me. I have to be thinking of my kids First. Here I go with the new year. Give me good luck everyone.

If the trash has not gone out there are food pantries every where who need donations. There are many treats that you can make your boys and yourself. Let them help cook with you and it will seem more fun. There are things like sugar free pancake syrup, so all of you do not have to miss out on some usual flavors. Walk slowly and shop the aisles reading. Leave the kids home. They hate shopping in the first place and if you are reading your way down the aisles the trip will be a long one.
Let us know how you are doing. FYI Denny's will substitute to whole wheat on their pancakes, sugar free syrup and turkey bacon. Glad you are embracing life and health!

Certainly will wish you luck! I involved my son (only 1) with my health initiatives also. I wasn't diabetic when he was young, but I was cooking from scratch for health reasons, playing tennis and walking, avoiding sugar and other chemicals (because of an allergy), and maintaining a positive frame of mind.

Given all this, I still don't understand why I became diabetic, but that's water under the bridge now. Must have slipped up somewhere. Regardless, he is healthy and has taught his wife better eating habits. Both are at a good weight.

When I first discovered I was diabetic, cleaning my kitchen was one of my first steps. Anything unopened went to the Food Bank. Opened, but good went to my neighbors. I review this at least yearly, because I'm an optimistic person and things I "hope I will again be able to eat" do slip into my cupboards.

Good for you. Getting your children involved is a great idea. That will keep you motivated in being a shining example for them, for living a better/healthier lifestyle. Make sure you read those labels well. Not all "healthy" claims on packages are truthful. And when you find a food that works for you, write down the pertinent info (brand, carbs, BG reactions, serving size, etc), so that you won't waste time on subsequent trips trying to remember why you chose/like a certain food. Good luck with all you are trying to acheive and Happy New Year to you and your family.

You can do it my family eat healthy with me. Just have healthy options. We have cheese and sugar free jello along with celery and othe veggies. I know it's so easy to eat the old way but it can be great eating good too !!!!! I make whipped cauliflower instead of mashed pot. It's really good and I don't even miss mashed pot. Good luck
