Thought I would tell you about a Scottish Tradition called Hogmanay. Celebrated on the last day of December every year. When some people go out from door to door greeting neighbours or relatives. They usually have a bottle of whisky or whatever alcoholic drink they prefer, to offer a drink to whomever they are visiting to keep them warm and they also carry a wee piece of coal. The usually greet the person they are visiting with the cry Happy New Year/Hogmanay, shake hands and hand over the piece of coal and say "Lang may yur lum reek" which means Long may your chimney smoke". It is another way of wishing someone always has the money to buy coal to put on an open coal fire and keep their home warm cosy and welcoming. Unfortunately traditions change and now adays people just take the drink and it is an excuse to get drunk. This Hogmany can last anything from an hour to all night long. In Scotland we have the 1st and 2nd of January as holidays so it can go on over New Years day and into the 2nd of January as well. lol ♥♥♥

What will that do to have that many likes? You have a handsome picture but without a smile, you kind of have the deer in the headlights look. Give us a smile!

A Like represents support, and LOL…that pic was taken on my Daughters Wedding Day. Nervous Dad to say the least!

Now I find that curious that you say you are a nervous Dad on your daughter's wedding day as your profile clearly states you are female. So what are you male or female?

Have a healthy, happy, safe and prosperous New Year Gerie!

And you too James, I'm getting ready for our Hogmanay. Then tomorrow will be going for New Year dinner to my oldest son and daughter in law. Hope 2012 is everything you hope it will be and brings you loads of joy and happiness. ☺☺☺

nope sober as a judge, Patricia! (my kidneys can't stand the abuse)
I just looked up "Hogmayny" and this greeting Was included in the article. Since Gerie is from Scotland I thought I'd include it.
