Christmas is behind us but the Holiday celebrating is not over, so I just wanted to say Happy Kwanzaa to those of us who are taking part in the week long celebration. Umoja (Unity) to you.

When I was reviewing the seven principles of Kwanzaa, I saw how these values can be applied to living life as a diabetic.
Umoja (Unity) - with our D team, support system and the DC community.
Kuji-chagulia (Self-determination) - to not let this disease get the better of us, for as long as possible.
Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility) - to research, learn and apply our new found knowledge to our daily routines.
Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics) - to inform one another, on where to find affordable necessities and other resources for keeping our D under control.
Nia (Purpose) - to pass on our experiences, trials and successes, for others to learn from.
Kuumba (Creativity) - in how each of us deals with our individual journeys.
And, Imani (Faith) - in God (or the higher power you beleive in) and ourselves, to keep us strong and on the right path for a longer, healthier life.
Be blessed.
