I have only been dealing with this since the beginning of November, but my numbers are slowly coming down. I'm still not where I would like to be, but I'm just trying to figure out what happened to me today. After dinner, my bs was high (202) and I went to work out. After my workout, I tested and it was 103 (the lowest reading I have ever had). I am usually getting somewhere between 140-160 in the mornings now, down from 220 in the morning at the time of my diagnosis. I had a small snack of popcorn, which seems to be alright normally, and then I had a reading of 222. This doesn't make any sense. I also tested several times each time that I mentioned today, because I wanted to make sure that it was accurate. I feel like I'm on a roller coaster here. I'm counting carbs at each meal and snack, working out, and taking metformin twice a day. Is this normal to have such large swings?

In my opinion, it is not normal. I have the same problem..90% of the time, I am way up to 300-600 after meals, 200-300 for my 2 hour readings ( 2 hours after eating), and my fasting is very very choppy. I know for a fact from a good doctor that the body goes through SO much once the blood sugars are erratic all the time like that. It sounds to me like you might need an adjustment on your medications. It's different for every diabetic—-I can't take Metformin—-tried it, and it almost killed me. A little bit of insulin works super good for me, so maybe that is what you need, too…I would definitely get back in to see your doctor, though…I fear blindness, limb loss now, so, I have been working on better ways to just stabilize my numbers—-even if I can stabilize them a little bit. I hope this helps, sincerely, ANNE
