Dear Mary see the offer by poppop1961 below. Here's his profile,~ Should you wish to take him up on his offer you may wish to friend him (if you haven't already) so you two may talk and exchange contact info on the DC email rather than on discussion boards or profile walls where everyone can see it.

Hello, welcome to a fab place to find support, knowledge and friendship. Hope you stick around, this site is very helpful. If you don't connect with anyone here about a meter, try your local Red Cross, they helped my mom with supplies and insulin. Also your local health dept may be able to help. Just some suggestions.
Good luck and hope to "see" you around!
Blessings, Mickey

There is someone on here who is trying to give one away. Why don't you post a discussion, perhaps he will read it and could help you.

Matthew (aka "Saber 32" )? I would suggest friending him and then email him directly.

I have a extra Bayer Contour meter for someone that needs one. And can have it if needed. Leave me a message in my inbox where to send it and I will put in in the mail.

Howdy Mary!

WELCOME to DiabeticConnect! (sorry you qualify for inclusion in our "little" family) Sorry you are having a tough time.

My suggestion is that you go and purchase an inexpensive meter from the store. Walmart has a "reli-on" meter inexpensively and the stips are inexpensive too. I imderstamdTarget also has an inexpensive meter and strips (but I don't remember the name).

The problem with the free meters is the companies which give free meters sell the strips at a more expensive price to pay them for the cost of the free meter. Additionally when the cost of the meter is recouped, the company doesn't lower the pridc of the strips. So you would be paying for the meter over and over again!

I also am guessing you need assistance with medications and other services associated with your T1. A lot of folks come here with the same question and there are many discussions where it is discussed. One such discussion is here: ~ .

You could also do a search of the discussions by using the search box on the home page for discussions (on the upper right of the page) Just type in the desired search term and if that word occurs in the original posting or in the categories listed below the OP, it will come up.

I pray you find the suggestions and help you need.

Blessings to you and yours
