Has anyone else gone to bed after a snack and with a good BG reading and then hunger woke you up? I was so hungry in my sleepa couple of nihts the past few weeks that what actually woke me up was my chewing on the side of my tongue like it was a piece of steak. What am I supposed to do - set an alarm for every for hours so I can get up and eat?

Our appetites doble because all of a sudden we're being told what we can't have to eat, and it's all the stuff we like the best.

I have the same problem since starting metaformin, seems like I stay hungry. I also awake about 4am hungry, I will eat a small snack or piece of hard cheese and that seems to satisfy my hunger and I can go back to sleep. Is it possible that we are taking our meds at the wrong time, I take mine morning and at bedtime, maybe I need to take the bedtime meds earlier in the evening??

I don't think it's your medication. I'm on insulin, and I know I eat too much. Don is constantly telling me that if I gain much more weight I won't fit through the door. I told him I won't do that - where would I sleep? I spend around $200.00 a week on groceries, but there's never anything here to eat. What? I ate it already?

lmao! yes i think you're my twin! of course, i remember as a kid i'd be looking for something to eat and not finding what i wanted, so my folks said i wasn't really hungry if i couldn't find something! i agree with that but then my tummy is growling all the time lately!

That's not it - we're hungry, we're just not finding what is is we want. I keep eating until I find it. Some of this, some of that, some of - oh! that was it!

protien seems help and eating alots of veggies seems help when i get extreme hunger feeling. i don't have this happen vey often just once and a while. i take metforin i don't think it has anything to do with it.i eat 6 small meals a day and this seems to help too.

Actually since I need to put wood in the fire about every 2 hours, I drink a lot of water, so I have to get p and pee! I have had times when I wake upat 2 or 3 and I am "famished" so I eat a small bowl of cereal. If I didn't, I wouldn't get back to sleep.

Would you consider eating a little less at dinner and a little more at the last snack?

Curious: what are your BG readings when you wake up so hungry?
