Hello everyone!

I signed up several weeks ago this is my story and I am probably putting it at the wrong place. I have been reading your post for about 6mo. And have found them very encouraging! I generally operate from my iPhone and have had trouble finding the recipes.
I was diagnosed T2 about 15 years ago with bs over 600. I will never forget. Went to Dr because I couldn't see to drive. Eye dr sent me to medical Dr. Went on diet and within 1 year and no meds I lost 106 lbs. At the time of my diagnosis my eyesight was a real problem.
What I did was: I kept a food journal daily. No white stuff, desserts, keeping my calories no more than 1200 and many days at 1000. I had a norditrack ski machine, which I literally wore out. I went from the standing and falling off position to rocking that baby up to 20-30 minutes each day.
It took about 8 years but gradually the weight has come back. Gained about 40 lbs. I am now on meds and 10 units Lantus and things are doing good with my bs. You may wonder what happened. I would identify it as STRESS. Stress from my business and stress from our church. Stress can over take us and I quit watching daily what I ate and back came some of the weight and those high blood sugars. So here I am among some good future diabetic friends I hope.
I am planning to meet with my Dr. next week. Here is what I am doing:
- cutting my food portions in half or more for the last 2.5 weeks is helping me feel better lose several pounds and has conditioned me to eating less.
- Monday I will begin counting my calories and carbs and narrowing down the kinds of foods I eat. I will supplement this by keeping a Food Journal. For this I use one of the little moleskins. They are great for recording data.
- one week from from Monday, which will be the 12th I will begin exercising (weight lifting and walking).
I had blessed Thanksgiving. Cooking dinner for my family and eating small or half portions.
Today my husband, daughter and I are returning from Florida having spent a week with our son and family. Spent 3 days @ Disney. Here again I did half portions. Please know that in the middle of all this is a wonderful God who loves and cares for me and each of you very much. I look forward to being a part of this web site and pray that God will bless each of you in a very special way.

Howdy Martha! WELCOME to DiabeticConnect! (sorry you qualify to belong to this little "family")

This site is one of the little compensations for being a person with diabetes (PWD).

Sounds to me like it seems you have your diabetes well under control.

Should you need pointers from those who are walking the walk and encouragement this is the place to be.

If there is any way I can be of service to you, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you for your prayers for a special blessing. I've been blessed by being able to come here nearly every day for the past couple of years (been here 3+)

Praying God's richest blessings be upon you and yours!

Thank you for your response. Actually my diabetes has given me plenty of trouble. The last 6 months haven't been good. Lots of high blood sugars. I had to go on insulin and that caused my blood sugar to go HIGHER. The only way I could get it down was by eating much less food. I ate a cup of popcorn this afternoon and that upset my stomach. Thank you so much for your prayers and caring. It truly means a lot.
