HI…I came down with such a bad virus on Halloween that I still have it. I had to call an ambulance for myself 4 nights ago——my fever had hit 105 more than once, and I was in BAD shape—-I was disoriented off and on, and I did not even want a cigarette hardly at all. My blood sugars basically went from the 400s down to 109 by the time the ambulance arrived. Right before they pulled up, one of my fevers broke, and I was sweating profusly. They drove me down to the emergency room, and they said I had bronchitis and acute asthma…I am feeling quite a bit better—-just going to be very very careful …ANNE

I take Dayquil and Nyquil liqui-caps while I have a cold. I don't notice any higher BS readings while taking them, although they will slightly elevate my blood pressure, but not enough to be a concern. I like to use Robitussen (they make a sugar-free version too, I think) for a persistant cough. But tend to rely on the Dayquil as it has a cough supressant in it already. And lots of sugar free Halls cough drops. The citrus honey ones are pretty good.

Some cough syrups are heavy on sugar, so are not, so read the labels. That is also true for other remedies, so ask your doctor or pharmacist about what you can safely take.
