I have suffered from peripheral neropathy since before I was diagnosed with Diabetes. I am currently taking 1600 mgs of Neurontin for it and it seems to be waning in effectiveness. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on other treatments?

Thank you all for your input. Sometimes its as if we're out on a deserted isle and no one understands us. I have switched to Lyrica but still have some very painful cramps early in the morning that just make me jump out of bed with a leg locked in cramps. I am taking flexaril but the cramps are still occurring. Any Ideas?

I took neurontin for a few years but then switched to Carbatrol. (It is in the Tegratol family) I take 1200 mgs per day + 8 ultram and 2 mg of requip at bedtime. this cocktail has held well for about 4 years. Occasionally i do get breakthrough pain and take 1 vicodin at bedtime or in the evening on a particularly bad day. hope this might help. i seem to have no side effects from the carbatrol as I did with some othersl

i suggest that you ask your doctor about percodan 10 mg. for the pain. i know that it has worked for me in the past and allowed me to get past that burning and stinging in my feet that really got to me ovr time. if your doctor is not comfortable with percodan you can visit a pain clinic in your state they are usually much more likely to prescribe percodan 10mg. for diabetic pain that a regular doctor.

For my neuropathy I take Lyrica. I tried the neurontin but it made me crazy and very moody. the Lyrica has helped alot better.
