I have been told by so many people to find a local diabetic support group…does it make sense and does it really help?

I think it is a wonderful thing. I wish we had one here. If we do, I have not come across it yet.
I find talking with others in the same situation as myself would help SO much. You could learn from others and find different ways people are coping. Plus if you are having a bad day, there would be someone you should be able to reach out to quickly for support.
For now, I have all of you here on DC. Good Luck and I hope you find what you need!
Blessings, Mickey

ILash, If there was a support group in my area I would be there. Most medical professionals get their knowledge on diseases from books and journals. What better place to learn from then others who have faced similar issues as you have. Hearing first hand how others deal with the problems or seeing someone who did not get their diabetes under control and are facing major health issues because of it. I feel that we can learn a lot here in DC but in person you can interact.
I hope to start a local group myself. I have had to put that on hold for a while.
