…Keeps the doctor away.

I just read (and posted) a very interesting article on the wonderful fruit…the apple. How it is one of the greatest immunity boosters we have, and eating them during the winter is a great way to keep the flu at bay.

What other old remidies are out there that you practice? You know the ones…chicken soup for a cold, aloe for burns…etc. Share your tips with us, and we can all have a healthier winter.

Telling the truth…just getting a flu shot saves the day for me. It has really made a difference. I used to not get one and there was a year when the flu put me down. I never want that to happen again.

How about warm apple cider at night to give you that warm fuzzy feeling before bed as your snack??

All cuddled up next to the fire place too. Oh I love this time of year. Plus, you can put a cinnamon stick in it and you have a great glucose booster too. Add a little smoked cheese and there you go. Perfect.

The only cough syrup we had when we were growing was whiskey, honey and lemon juice. All I know is that it worked back then.

That is my husband's remedy for colds and a sore throat. Shot of JD straight, and a warm blanket to roll up in. I like yours better, it has a few things in it to calm that whiskey down. LOL

You know thats all my grandma had to ward off colds Gram was born 1877 and lived to be 96 so that hot toddie worked for her for a long time. Oh I forgot she made the best fudge ever she would have a peice with the hot toddie to sweeten her mouth after she drank her drink.

Yes, the article also said that things like broccoli are great too. There are so many things that we write off thinking we have advanced beyond that. But you know what, those people back then were paying attention. They maybe could not tell you WHY something works, only that it does.

I keep a ice cub tray of frozen Chicken soup in my freezer. I cook off a whole chicken with root veggies, take most of the meat and veggies out to use for a meal and freeze the broth in an ice cube tray. After freezing I put the ice cubes in a plastic bag zip bag, remove air. Then when someone is feeling bad you can defrost a few cubes and INSTANT homemade Chicken soup.
