If your having trouble with your cholesterol and not happy with whatever you take, I would highly recommend talkiking to your doctor about Fenofibrate. not only is it a great drug in lowering your bad cholesterol but also helps to increase your good cholesterol. One last thing and perhaps the best is that in a recent double blind study it has shown to improve kidney function and helpng to lower the risk of kidney failure and possible dialyisis treatment on the road

I take it. I did not want to be on a Statin because of Liver damage side effects so went on Fenofibrate. I really like it.

My doctor keeps wanting to put me on statins, but they mess with me. So maybe this is an alternative. Is this a generic or not?

That is the last one I took. Before that I took pravistatin. Neither one likes my body very well.

mine did the same thing, so my dr. stopped it for 2 months, then i started over at a very low dose and very slowly worked my was back up to the dose he wants me on. it tolerate it fine now. my body has adjusted. it is a very important med, the alternative of going without it is worse.

My numbers are not that out of wack to justify it for me. The simvastatin was a lower dose but it was just as bad. My mom also had very bad reactions to statins and still has muscle weakness from it. I just don't want to go down that path.

Statins cause a lot of pain in my body. I tried two different ones, but it makes it impossible to sleep because of the pain in my back and legs. So I stopped taking it. It does help, but it is not worth it to me.

I know it comes in a generic form but do not know it this is the generic name or not. It is mainly for triglycerides. I had fabulous results with it!
My cholesterol and triglycerides both improved. I was also told fish oil helps

pixsidust: fish oil also is given to help with depression…another very worthwhile side effect.

I just googled it and started a discussion…why don't you read the article I posted. Actually, I think the psychiatrist I first heard this from used a higher dose, but this would be a good starting point.

Oh, haven't done that for a while. Sorry. Why don't you google some combination of "depression, alternative treatments, fish oil"?

I've tried three, had complications with all, and decided I could do better with just diet and exercise. No problems now, but used to find myself leaning on the hall walls at work because I was so shakey and my legs hurt so much.
