I feel the same way, my A1C is 5.1 and it has been like that for the past 10 years. I can spend months without insulin and my blood sugar will not go high. But, my doctor keep telling me I will always have it.

Howdy Rose
When you eat something which a PWD (person with diabetes) should not, how does your BG (blood glucose — aka "sugar") behave then?

Good to see you bacK!

You said it yourself: "once I saw my DR and mentioned it was what killed my mother, she ran tests and said I was pre-D."

Pre-diabetic means you are not yet diabetic, but you are at high risk of becoming diabetic. The question is whether or not you care enough about yourself to take care of it now before you become diabetic like your mother did.

Your doctor is talking about genetics and probability; you are saying it will never happen to you because it hasn't happened yet. I'm glad it hasn't yet. I'm also glad you are still around to argue with us. It says you do care and haven't really given up on yourself yet. I hope you stay and fight it.

I read your responses to those offering you their help. Why are you angry and nasty to people? If you don't come often, why come at all. The answer is you are angry because you don't know what to do and you are possibly scared to death. You are angry with yourself and since you don't know what to do about it, you viciously attack others. You stated "First of all I have been to medical school so that you can shove and so yes Im Educated and well versed in this,
Think the next time you post like that on someone because you have no class when you make people feel as you did. This isn't a place for that and if that is how you feel don't bother me with your thoughts because they are worth NOTHING!" If you are educated, which I doubt based on your grammar and writing skills, you would notice that not one person said anything to you out of anger. The fact of the matter is that you are worried otherwise you would not have come here. I think you should look deep down inside of yourself, deal with the anger and then take steps by getting a second opinion and handle it. Anger is never the way to deal with a problem and taking anger out on others who have done nothing to you shows a lack of respect for yourself and others.

Don't assume anything. First of all I have a good education I have completed MA school CNA school and Medical billing/Insurance. My mother died because of this crap and I know how this works. Stress just brings up the sugar levels which isnt good so back off me I don't need comments like yours Thanks

Well absolutely, worrying about it is not good for you and I pray that your Dr. IS wrong but if he's right what's the harm in just taking care of yourself so that you DON'T become Diabetic??!! You know that old saying, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!" ?? Hope you stay well in any case! Ellen :)

I am Pre-D, & I had thoughts of my doc being wrong too. My last A1C was 5.3 & my BG readings are under 100. I have no family history of D. The 2 issues that I have that put me where I am to get T2 is I have had 3 children over 9lbs, & have syndrome x. I decided that if this is meant to be I need to step up & watch myself even better. Each individual that has ANY health issue weather it be the D or not must choose their own path. I wish you the best…Don't give up!! PS: Your not alone!!

OH dear, for your own sake listen to your doctor! I have LOST GREAT friends to this very same attitude, Yes I said LOST. They passed away from diabetes. but not before they went blind and lost their legs and was put on dialysis for kidney failure!!THIS IS A TRUE STORY!!! YOU must CHOOSE to take care of YOURSELF!! FOR goodness sake!! Only YOU can decide whats important…sadly if you continue to think this way im in fear for your health!!!!!

no I have not and Im not going to waist my money. I think she said I had it because its in the family and thats all and if that was the case then just because most of my family are drug addicts I would be too by what she has based it on

If your A1c is good and your bs #'s are not all over the charts, why is your doctor saying you have D? Is there something else they are basing this on? Have you gone for a second opinion? Just curious! Good Luck!!

I don't see how what medic said could have "messed up you thanksgiving". YOU have some issues. And for someone that is supposedly educated, have of your rants are hard to read because of the spelling and grammer. So before you start pointing fingers and making accusations, you need to look at yourself first.

Hi, glad to hear your A1c is 5.3 as it is a score in the normal range. I've had them too, but they sneak back up sometimes when I don't watch my diet and exercise. Hope you continue to do well. Happy Thanksgiving to you. Hope you'll be back on again and get this message. Carol

haha definitely seems like you went to medical school when you spelled "checked", "uncontrolled", "normally" and many other common English words wrong. You also said you weren't going to "waist your money". I don't think you meant you were going to place your money on the area above your hips. Plus, you have MANY grammar issues on your posts.

Why would you even post a discussion about not being diabetic and tell people to respond just so you can be rude to them? Get a life.

Sounds like you have some anger issues. You are the one that posted first, so if you don't want to hear what someone has to say or suggest, maybe you should not post anything. Everyone here comes from a caring place, and we just try to help eachother. If you want to harass some people, maybe go somewhere else.
