I have had type 1 diabetes since I was 10 years old, I am now 20 and pregnant with my first baby. Im doing everything the docs have told me, keeping my sugar lower than normal, checking more frequently, but I was wondering if anyone has some other pointers or some info to give me some piece of mind so i dnt worry myself crazy!

Congratulations! I am also a type 1 and had my first baby last year. First of all, your doctor(s) will monitor you very closely so try not to worry too much. It sounds like you are doing a good job keeping your blood sugar under control so there is no reason why you would have any problems. I kept my A1C around 5.5 to 6 during my pregnancy and I ended up with an absolutely perfect baby boy. This site is great for support with your disease but I also recommend www.diabeticmommy.com. It really helped me a lot with all those strange pregnancy things in general. Most importantly, take care of yourself and get lots of rest because you will need it once that baby comes ;-)

CONGRATULATIONS!! When are you due? I'm happy that you are reaching out for advice and support. This is a good place to get both.
It sounds like you are doing what your doctor is wanting you to do and if your doctor is happy, and your numbers are good and you are feeling good, then just roll with it! Enjoy being pregnant for the first time. If you worry, you could cause undue stress to yourself and your baby. You have been given a great gift and i pray you enjoy this and everything works out fine.
We are all here is you have any ?'s or concerns.
God Bless, Mickey

Congrats! As long as you have a good OBGYN who understands diabetes, then you and baby will be fine. I was diagnosed with diabetes while pregnant with my daughter. For the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy, my daughter was highly monitored with stress tests and multiple other tests just to make sure that she (and I) were doing fine. Everything went fine and we had no complications. She was a normal weight and size. Just keep taking good care of yourself and things will be OK!

CONGRATULATIONS AJ to you and your husband on your blessed event!

The mother of my 3 sons (we're now divorced) had gestational diabetes for each of her pregnancies, So my experience with her is not the same as you, because she didn't remain with diabetes after delivery. But here is ia two page article from Mayo clinic on pregnancy and diabetes: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/pregnancy-an...

I pray you will have a healthy baby

Praying that you have a safe, healthy happy and BLESSED thanksgiving!
