For those using or thinking about using an insulin pump, there's exciting news from a brand new pump manufacturer. I saw this Tandem pump at the 2010 Diabetes Educators Show in San Antonio. It is soooooo cool.

It looks more like an iPhone than like an insulin pump. The user interface is lightyears ahead of where other pumps are. Very cool.

Anyway, the pump just received FDA approval.

Here's a write up about it on Amy Tenderich's blog:

Check it and let us know what you think.

its amazing really though when you think about it. Insulin went into mass production around 188 years ago!! look at all te advances we've made since then!!! personal montoring kits!! a1c home testing kits, "designer insulin", eye lazor treatment!!! and now a pump which looks like an iphone!!!! i honestly dont think it will be too long until we come up with a permenant solution that will be available to everyone!!! its very exciting really!!!

It sounds intriguing…especially for those looking for a water-proof pump. Any idea when it will come to market?
