the holidays can be hard to get through because my routine gets messed up. With all of the family parties and holiday events not only does it throw off my daily schedule, but I am eating foods I wouldn't normally have in my diet. But if I am careful and try to stick to my regular routine as much as possible it helps to keep my blood sugar levels down.

Don't get me wrong though, I love the holidays and definatetly make a few exceptions when it comes to holiday meals and activities. My goal is just to try to not overdue it.

i eat my meals in a pattern. i start with the veggies then the meat then the carbs. That way I fill up with the good stuff. We are hosting thanksgiving this year. We will have a total of 5 diabetic and 1 vegan. We are forgoing chips and dip for fresh veggies. We are limiting the amount of desserts. We are making serveral changes in the menu and going with lower carb choices. Good luck everyone. I know how hard it is. I will put our menu up when I get it finalized just to give you guys ideas. Happy holidays to all.

For us type 2's it is especially difficult. We cannot decide to eat extra carbs and compensate for it with more insulin. Even when I was on insulin I was not on a sliding scale. I am very worried because I will be around foods that I love. I guess the day after I will get back to being good. I will keep no candy cookies etc around me. I will only have enough potatoes, dressing and gravy leftover for 2 meals.

If you keep close watch on what you are eating and watch your portions you should be ok. You know what you can have and cannot. For me I don't have many problems because for me it's all about family, so i don't dwell on the food. Plus we always have a ton of raw veggies to munch, so i'm good!

Good Luck!
