Ok I've been having other issues like having surgery because of female issues and my mom and my obgyn says if I want kids it should be in the next 4 to 5 years and I do want kids but just being type 1 I have worries? I just want to feel assured I guess I've heard a lot of negative but I would like to here positive.

I wasn't sure that I wanted to have a baby because of my Type 1 diabetes, and I thought my time had past. Well, I got pregnant by accident & I was so worried because my A1C at the time I found out was 11!!! That can have serious effects on a fetus. I was able to get it down to 6.5 within a few weeks and by the 3rd month it was at 5.5! I couldn't have done it without the help of my doctors (specifically my pump manager)… They really do keep a very close eye on you and I had an pretty easy pregnancy considering… Anyway, I ended up with my miracle - a perfect 6lb 11oz baby boy.

I had no problems with my first, and am currently pregnant with my second, with no problems yet. You are definitely watched closely, just to make sure you and the baby are healthy, and the baby isn't getting too big. At the end of my first pregnancy, I was doing ultrasounds twice a week to test for stress in the baby, but everything was fine, it was just a precaution they take with high risk babies. My first little boy was born a healthy 7 lbs 9 oz, even with me being Type 1 diabetic!

I was able to get an insulin pump for free after he was born because we had met all my deductibles…nothing better than free stuff!

i have 2 kids had gestational with both. you are just watched a lot closer. many diabetic woman have babies. The younger you are the easier it is because you will have less underlying problems. I have been thinking of trying for one more. This is the last year i would feel safe trying. My doctor says that we will just go from metformin to insulin and watch everything. I lost 75 pounds with my last pregnancy so I would have to eat almost constantly. Which is no big deal. Good luck with whatever you decide.
