We all know that carrots protect your eyesight, but new research shows that some other foods may be just as important in preserving your vision, especially against such age-related disorders as macular degeneration and cataracts.
SPINACH: contains lutein which protects the macula (center of retina) from cell damage and protects against cataracts and macular degeneration.
SALMON: contains DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) which prevents abnormal blood vessels from building up in the retina and protects against retinopathy.
BLACKBERRIES: contain anthocyanins which lower blood pressure, improves blood flow to the eye, and protects against macular degeneration.
SOY: contains isoflavins which improve tear production and protects against dry eyes.
ORANGE BELL PEPPERS: contains zeaxanthin which protects the retina from the damaging effects of sunlight and oxidative stress which protects against macular degeneration.
