Does anyone else have problems with stress dropping their blood sugar quickly? I got very upset at work Friday and ended up having to leave. I don't like to miss work.

When I get stressed, my levels go up. Sometimes way up. But, once I calm down, they can drop real fast. So I just try to walk away when a situation arises that I think will stress me. Good luck on that. Darrin

I do experience that as well, but only when VERY stressed. it isn't quite as low as some but low enough, tht I feel it and I need to eat something for sure.

Hi Cheryl, I am not diabetic, at this point but I am extremely hypoglycemic. When I am in a stressful situation, one of the first symptoms that I experience is a drop in blood sugar, sometimes to the point that I can't focus, and feel the shakes and anxiety that go along with a drop in blood sugar. When I have to do something that I know may be stressful, like talk to a large group, eating carefully is one of the ways that I prepare.

Mine has gone UP in the 500s during stress, but it has also DROPPED DOWN to the 50s, too…all seemed dependent on the type of stress I was experiencing——-ANNE

Mine dropped to 50 Friday. I've had Doctors tell me to cut out the stress before but how does a person do that???? Quit my job, then can't pay my bills. LOL

does certain types of stresses affect you differently?

Definately! It is hard to explain!!! Job stress is the one that gets me because I just love the kids in our school and want the best for them but when someone doesnt care about them that is when I drop! I can get onto a student and that doesn't happen.

I dont think it works that way
Maybe you where low and thats why you had a hard time ????
It would be nice if my BS whent down with stress I would be able to give up insulin
Best wishes

No it has happened to me before. My Dr was surprised too. I do have a lot of stress but the times it has dropped I've been under a lot of stress and was just really mad because of something or I should say lack of something a coworker was doing.

Are you not keeping something on hand to deal with the lows? I've crashed at work before, but have OJ in the fridge and tabs and liquid glucose at my desk. The gals I work with know if I yell for OJ I've gone down to far and they run to the kitchen and get me some. Stress effects everyone differently.
