By following my meal plan I have lost 40 pounds. This sounds good but being low income who is going to buy me new clothes? My clothes are fitting very badly, I look like a goodwill reject. I do not want to put out money for clothes while I am still losing. We do have second hand stores here but the choices there are slim to nothing.

Hey hold up! Goodwill reject?! I buy all my jeans at Goodwill and ebay! I am a bargainista! lol
There are plenty of websites selling new and used, low-priced business attire for women-just Google! Also, shop at Ross, Marshalls, and TJ Maxx.
Congrats on your impressive weight loss! You should start a Discussion letting us know your success tips!
And if someone is bidding against you on ebay for ladies 6L Levis, step off cause its probably me! heehee :)

Are there any consignment shops in your area? Or do you have any close friends or relatives who would have clothes in the size you're in now?

This is true, but just think of how much better you will feel! It's a lifestyle change, so when you level off you can get yourself some cute things a piece at a time and look and feel great!! Keep up the good work! Blessings

I am somewhere between 1X and 3X on shirts depending on who makes them and as far as pants go I have no idea. I have been wearing one stlye of leggings so long because stomach is way bigger then my leg and backside size. I have one pair of leggings that fit but the store I got them at no longer carry that size only larger ones. At least my baggy undies don't show, LOL.

Yeah, I was worried about that too. You're afraid to buy clothes and then lose more weight and those don't fit either and you're on a tight budget. My 2 favorite pair of pajamas need suspenders. I walk down the hall they they start falling off. It's annoying. My favorite pair of pants has the elastic shot in them too. Could hardly walk through the grocery store the other day.

Just try going through airport security where you have to take off your belt and shoes and your belt is cinched so tight and pants so loose that they immediately drop to one's ankles.

Hello! is it drafty in here all of a sudden? LoL!

Oh, my. This reminds me of the day I took my husband out for a Chinese dinner. As we left the restaurant, he was using his walker and, because he is blind, I was checking for traffic. I suddenly became aware that the traffic was looking at us. Puzzled, I looked at Wayne and found his burmuda shorts had dropped to his ankles while we waited for the cars to go by.

It is funny! I treasure moments like this because laughter keeps me going. Wayne is 10 years into Alheimer's and life can get heavy at times.

I'm sorry to hear that. There are so many heartless diseases out there, but that one is especially cruel. It's good that you hold those memories close. I'm putting you in my prayers for strength and peace. If you ever need to vent, we are all here for you. God Bless and thank you again for sharing!

Old Navy had a sale for 30% off their clearance prices. I got a pair of jeans for $6.29 and several tops for $5 each. You have to watch and take the time to finger through the sales items anywhere you might go. You may just find one or two items at the thrift stores. Do not expect a whole wardrobe at one place or stop. Congratulations on the wight loss! I need to be on your meal plan!

METgriff1950: I forgot to add, you should post your eating plan as well. Valentine Lady

My eating plan is pretty simple. Three meals a day, 45 carbs per meal, 4 to 6 oz of meat a day and 5 servings of vegetables. I can't eat all of that so I drink a glucerna shake for either breakfast or lunch along with an apple or orange depending on what my plans are for the day.

That is almost what my diabetes nutritionist told me to do, but added two snacks of 15 carbs and protein but i have not followed that at all. i am trying to find the information i received back then (almost 6 years ago). You are an inspiration. i have also thought about the Glucerna. i don't like breakfast and am not hungry enough to eat then. but around 10:00 i am a little hungry. i think i will give it a try and see how that works for me. Thanks

METGriff1950: May I suggest that you find someone who does alterations. It will work for awhile until you loose more. I agree with jimmyjames, Walmart and Kmart has great end of season cloths. But only buy a few, mostly house dresses for around the house, jeans and tee-shirts to go out. Keep in mind your feet will loose too. You may drop from a half to a full whole size shoe. Loosing weight is not cheap, but so well worth it. Espically someone with diabetes, it's a neccessity. Good luck to you. Hugs…Valentine Lady

i am having the same problem. My mom suggested buying dresses until I am at my goal weight. That way I don't have to by pants every 3 weeks. :)

The up side of this is that my sons girlfriends mother was amazed at my weight loss and ability to get around better. Now she is taking her diabetes seriously and has my meal plan.

I have lost 50 lbs since Feb 2011 and up till last week I was wearing my old pants and cinching them up with a belt in which I had drilled holes to make them smaller. My son pulled me aside and spoke to me about it. And took me shopping to get some clothes which fit me better. It was his brother's wedding after all, and he didn't want me looking tacky. In the old pants when I undid the belt the pants fell to my ankles. (not good for going through airport security screening —— oops!)
