Hi everyone, I am going to be visiting my partners brother on the weekend just for 1 night. I have never met him before and don't know what sort of things he and his partner eat. I was just wondering if it is alright to just eat what they eat for the 1 night or take my own brekky cereal and snacks, or do you think that this would be rude?

i think it ok to bring what you need just incase they eat differntly then what you need to eat just to be on the safe side.i'm sure they will understand your situation with being diabetic

hope you have a great time. I would throw in some no-perishable items just in case. I like to know when people come over with dietary restrictions. That way I don't feel bad if they can't eat what I serve. My niece is vegan so we always try to accomadate her.

I don't think it would be rude. As diabetics, we have special diet needs that not everyone can accomodate. Could you call him before you leave to discuss your concern with him and his partner? You never know, they may have some questions for you as they may not know what you can and can't eat…

I always take my own snacks to my parents' house when I visit since they eat a lot of cookies and baked goods - my grandma loves to bake for the family. They understand that I can't have that stuff and they do try to have fresh fruit or veggies for me to snack on. They never see it as rude if I bring my own food with me.
