Wasn't sleeping very well last night, my 14 year grandson who lives with us broke up with his first real girlfriend and he was hurting so bad that it got me feeling very low. Woke up at about 12:30 craving that lonely last slice of cake so bad I was almost drooling. I sit here now at 2:30 in the afternoon looking over at the counter and that lonely slice of cake~~~~~ I settled for an apple last night!!

We grieve for our kids and in this case Grandson. He's every bit yours none the less. Your heart also pounds in his chest, you love him so much.

My son cried and cried when he broke up for the first time. He was twelve and they were dating. I was puzzled at this and had to ask him what did they do when they were "dating" as I accounted for all his time at that age.
He said "We sit at the same table at lunch"! Of Course! What was I thinking! I told him this is the first of many dumpings but not to worry. God had a person who would be just right for him when the time came. Right now all he had to do was to grow up to be the fine young man that the Lord intended. We prayed, asked God to take away the pain and left it in Gods hands. I assured him, he was loved despite what a young girl might do… Getting him involved in a church youth group with activities quickly took away the loneliness and the pain.

You are a great Grandpa. Perhaps a fishing trip might be in order? Even just a day one? Glad you ate the apple. This boy will need you for years to come!

I eat when I'm sad too. Took a long time to get over that. I also eat when I'm bored. Then I found knitting. I LOVE to knit! So now if I'm bored or down about something, I start knitting. I've got so many dang scarves right now, but they make awesome gifts. Instead of eating, I now go yarn shopping. I've got quite a stash going! So sorry to hear about your grandson. Hopefully he will be able to use this as a life lesson and move forward. Take care!

I think the key for many of us is finding something we are passionate about…it helps to take our mind off of food. You sound like you have a yarn addiction…a high-fiber diet that will not increase your BG (LOL). Mine is fabric. Plus we have the added reward of creating something we can be proud of. You go girl!
