Exercise exhausts me!

Yes, I will discuss this with my doctor. I've always exercised, but about 3 months ago took up running. I'm fine until I push it and run 3 miles. Each time I do this, a 2-hour nap is a requirement, and it takes me about a day to get back into the swing of things.

Any ideas to stave off the exhaustion?

Our blood sugar drops when we exercise. Perhaps you are pushing this too far without eating what you need of protein and carbs for such a run.
You may need to test during your run and see where you are glucose wise. That may be why you need to rest so long. Be careful you do not pass out! As James said as well, talk to the Doctor but test in the meantime

Exhaustion is something which could be indicative of a large number of medical conditions. It might be something you might want to have checked out by a Dr.
