I have a friend that is pre-diabetic. She was taking a 500mg Metformin, but her doc recently changed her meds to 1000mg time released metformin he said to be more aggressive with her treatments. He also told her that she would lose weight faster. I have never heard this before. In fact I was told by my doc that 1000mg was the losest dosage of metformin. She is having trouble with the medication NOT dissolving. He even told her that she doesn't have to check her blood. This all just makes no common sense to me! How else will she know if the med is working? Can anyone please shed some light?
