Why is it so hard to find good Dr. that will take the time to talk to you? I mean really sit down and answer any question you may have. I have been, with my kids, to Dr. that think they don't have to explain things or they talk above you. So far I been only to ONE that would take what ever time it took to explain so you could understand, he is no longer with us.

I have one! She is AWESOME! She takes her time and listens to you, and talks to you like a real person, not some nimrod with no brain. And she does this with everyone. Sometimes i have to wait and hour and a half to get in, but i don't care cuz she takes her time wtih anyone who needs it. So i may wait, but i know when i get in she won't rush in and rush out. She's terrific and i'm very blessed to have her. Even if she gets on me about not taking care of myself the past year! I wish everyone could have a doc like mine. They should all be so caring. Good luck, i know they are out there, the trick is finding one! Blessed Be

You know it! I told her she's not allowed to retire of move away! She just laughs at me and gives me a hug! I'm 6'2" tall and she is only about 5' and not that many inches! So it's pretty funny when she comes at me to hug me! LOL I'm sure we make a crazy picture!

I find that I get more time with my dr when I get an early morning appt. As the day progresses they get behind schedule and rush you through. Works for me anyway.

A better question would be-are there actually ANY doctors out there that will take the time to talk to you! With the little time alloted per patient, even if they wanted to spend the time they couldn't.
My solution, simplistic as it may sound (and extremely unrealistic, although perhaps amusing) is to carry a hammer and nails with you to your next appountment and nail his shoes down to the floor, releasing him only when all your questions are answered and you thoroughly understand everything you have been told!
Ah, for such a perfect world!

I do not believe in most cases it is the doctors but the insurance companies which feel that 15 minutes is enough time for a Doctors visit, if you talk longer he may find more wrong with you which in turn cost the insurance more money. I am very lucky as my Doctor will give me any amount of time at my visits, and part of this I am willing to listen to what he has to say and try what he suggests.
