First I would like to say…I found this app for my ipod this past summer, and it has absolutely changed my life. I learned more in one week then I have in the past seven years since I have been diagnosed as Type 2. I feel more motivated and hopeful than I have in a long time. The members are AWESOME.

Now, to my request. A few years ago I had a 'heart episode'…well, yes, officially a heart attack. I had two stents put in. It takes a LOT more time to recover than I had ever imagined. During all my time recovering, I got very bored, and started doing odd things lol.

One thing I have done has turned out great. I use parts of insulin pens to make some very pretty jewelery, and have started selling it! I am even able to donate the top 10% to the American Diabetes Foundation.

I am running out of empty insulin pens! Since they go into the trash, I was wondering if anyone could save some up and send them to me? I especially like the idea of being able to use them for something besides landfill. It took me quite a while to design these, and they mean even more to me because of how I came to get them.

Thank you SO much for listening to my too long post lol.

Howdy Mary!
I am sorry, I do not use insulin. If I did you can be sure that I'd send my empties to you. How very clever!

A bit of a warning. When exchanging contact information with those who do have pens you may want to use the email system to communicate the contact info. And if the person has not become your friend yet, invite them to be a friend, as only friends can use the email system with one another. When people exchange the contact info in the discussion boards and on profile walls (I think) they are searchable by Google and other search engines. I had googled an obscure term a couple of different times and brought up discussions on DC which had that obscure term in it. So it is not secure at all.

ALSO Mary, are you aware there is a sister site to Diabetic connect called Heart Connect? To find it, scroll up to the top of the page and on the right, mouseover "visit another community". Select heart connect from the drop down list. Then all you need do is use your DC login information & password and you should be in.

I've been on other sister sites and they are much like here.

I pray this is helpful

James

James,
Thank you very much. I had planned on email also..you just cannot be too careful!

I am also going to check out the heart site. Boy, if it is anything like this site I will be extremely happy! I have learned so so much from these members :) They have helped improve my life immeasurably. My family is large, and great :), but it is nice to have others in the same situation to talk to.
