Any suggestions on the sugar testing? I have my meter down to 4 as the pokey strength now. It was up to 6 . Maybe I am hitting the same spot but DANG . I'm a needle Phobe as it is. But just checked the sugar and the darn thing bit HARD!
So is it ok to use any finger besides the thumb to check the sugars ? I have been testing on the side of my fingers up above the finger pad. mostly I use my pointer finger or middle finger. and alternate off. My poor lil' digits are screaming and turning black with bruises LOL …HELP!!!

Hi there! I know what your saying, i would rather get a big ole shot in my buttock!! then get poked in the fingers! YIKES!!!!! I just got a OneTouch Ultra Mini and it comes with a lancet pen and i tell you what, that needle is SO small that sometimes i barely even feel it! It is very thin. Good Luck with yours…

i have the accucheck multi clix and i can set it at 1/2 and get draw on pinky or ring finger 1 gets most of the rest and i'm not a thin skinned person i started at 2 like the directions stated that feels like an electric shock

It takes some trial and error and it all depends on the type of lancet device you are using i personally i use the accuchek multi clix device…I LOVE IT!

How often do you test? I test 2 times a day and test on one finger per day. this means my fingers get a 10 day rest. I created a silly chart by tracing my hands on a piece of paper. When I test I put a dot and the date on the finger used. that way I can see which fingers are asking for a rest. I keep my lancet at 4 usually except for thumbs which need a 5. I have tried alternate sites like my palm and arms but not had any luck at all. It might be my lancing device.

Right now the doc wants me testing before and after every meal. Because she is testing me on the Metformin and she has me today starting on Actos for a week, then I go and get blood draw done to see what isn't working for me. So my lil' digits get sore :(

I find less pain on the sides of my fingers/thumb. Try adjusting your "pokey" strength down another notch and see if that helps. Also for me, poking my pinky side does not hurt at all…I always think I missed but nope, just does not hurt. You also NEED to alternate sites, should not just keep poking the same area over and over. BTW, love love love your title, Holy poke a holy!!!! Too funny.
