I had a pancreas transplant February 10th 2014. I am still healing and had minor complications. I was type1 diabetic. Diagnosed at 2 years old. I was very very brittle and had hypoglycemic unawareness. I also have necrobiosis lipoidica diabeticorum which has drastically improved. I will be immuno compromised for the rest of my life but prior to this my doctor said I wouldn't make it to 50 years old. My glucose levels have been perfect! IU University Hospital Dr. Fridell is the best in the nation statistically and I am lucky to have received a pancreas.

I have received many messages here now telling me about many of the friends here on this site that have had transplants. It is amazing to see how any there really are. Maybe we can share some of the transplants we have had to others here on the site…

Debe, I've not had any transplants, but have had a couple of other serious things like open heart surgery… :)
Some due to the Diabetes and my not taking it too seriously at the time. As you know, that is not the case anymore…LOL
