I have heard that the ADA has come out with a new guidline saying that A1c 5.7-6.1 was now considered pre diabetic and not type 1 or 2. Has anyone heard anything about this

I had heard it the other way from a friend. His new Dr considers him now a T2 where his former Dr placed him in the "prediabetic" category. He said if his AM fasting numbers were 110 or above in Dr's estimation he is now a T2.

Yes…I have heard it…I don't agree with it . I'm not trying to play doctor, but my strong opinion is it's wrong…the new guideline. Once the morning fasting consistently goes over 100, it's hard on the whole body, and the kidneys start getting overworked. To me, anybody that is consistently morning fasting of over 120, they are diabetic. To, me, pre diabetic is if a person has consistently morning fasting of between 96-120. ANNE
