Let's see who pays the most for their meds a month. The actual cost you would have to pay without any help.

OK I got mine. I'm rounding off to the nearest dollar. $2374 without ins. $63 with ins. per month.

My monthly costs are probably not as high as some folks, as I have split where I purchase my meds and supplies based on whether my HMO with copay or Walmart under the $4/10 plan is cheaper.

Almost all of my prescriptions are for a 90 day supply, so the amount I pay in any month can vary depending upon which meds I'm due to refill.

Monthly costs:

Lantus: copay through HMO. $90 for three month supply. No generic available, so I have to pay "brand copay".

Novolin: copay through HMO - it's considered "generic" $45.00 for four vials, considered 90 day supply

Metformin $20 at Walmart for a 90 day supply

Nortryptiline: $45 copay through HMO for 90 day supply

Verapamil: $10.00 through Walmart for 90 day supply

Lisoprinil: $10.00 through Walmart for 90 day supply

Hydrothoraclorithide (SP?) $11 at Walmart for a 90 day supply

One Touch Strips - $28 for 300 strips. It's a 20% copay at HMO -best deal in town, if you ask me! Only problem is 300 doesn't last me 3 months! To fill the gap I have a second meter I bought at CVS for something like $9.99. I supplement the difference in strips by purchasing the generic (TrueTrack) strips for my generic meter on Ebay. So add $65 for another 300 strips from Ebay.

Needles - $15.00 for 400 . I'm not sure how the HMO priced that one, but doctor just prescribed them for me yesterday for my bolus insulin and that's what they charged me. I'm not complaining, lol.

That comes to roughly $300 every three months. Not as bad as it could be.

You did not add your meds and cost, Misery. I love these lists and thoughts you come up with. Very enlightening and informative.

Well I know it is not me. Because some people on here take way more meds than I do. I take 6 different pills and insulin. All my meds are 9 dollars each except Lyrica and it 27 dollars.
