Retinopathy— is damage to the retina (the back of the eye).People with diabetes can also develop glaucoma and cataracts. If your Doctor finds eye disease early, seriouse eye damage may be prevented.Have your eyes checked at least once a year by an ophthalmologist. It is very important to tell your Doctor if you are haveing any problems with your eyes or if you notice any changes in how your eyes look. Get your bs as close to normal as possible(goal is 120/80), since high bp can cause eye problems worse. High bp can damage the small vessels in the back of the eye. Stop smoking.
