I've been diabetic since 1994. I first had an Accucheck and then switched to OneTouch Ultrasmart (because of its computer connectivity) I now use a Bayer Contour USB (again because it connects easily with my computer). Bayer has very good customer service and support. After about 11/2 years the meter case started to separate. I called Bayer and two days later I had a new meter free of charge. All I had to do was return my old meter to bayer in a postage paid envelope. Most major brands are probably good that way because they want us to buy their strips.

Dear Tina, My meter of choice also was the AccuChek Compact Plus because of the 17-strip drum. I found AccuChek's support exceptional. They were quick to supply me with replacement meters (at no cost) over the years after theirs wore out. I think I've gone through 4 in the past 10 years. When I started on my Medtronics insulin pump,(mid-August, 2011), I started to use a OneTouch UltraLink because it communicates my BG readings directly to my pump. I do have to insert individual strips, but it's no big deal. With the AccuChek, I was testing 4 to 6 times a day. Right now, with the OneTouch UltraLink, I'm testing 8 to 10 times a day to gather the data I need to better fine-tune my pump settings. Luckily, I have some insurance coverage for the strips which I find the most expensive part of treating my diabetes (if I can avoid the hospital visits). Hugs, Lou

I use either the One Touch Ultra 2, or the True Test meter from Walgreens. Both have served me reliably for years.

Reli On. With both my husband and me checking our #'s it seems to be the least expensive and we have found it to be reliable.
