Hey everybody,

Found an article you should all take a look at. Three new genes have been isolated that seem to correlate with creating type 1 diabetes in whoever has them. Very exciting news, and possibly a step forward in the fight for a cure.

It's interesting to note as well that many other genes ( about 24) have been found linked to type 1 even before this. Makes you wonder just how many genetic anomalies could land you this disease.

Really! Seems like there would be more of us around then although Im thankful there isnt! I read recently that we number 3 million in the US, is that right?

Yeah, the number's about right. It may be that you have to have most of these genes in order to get type 1 ( at which point, having that many genetic anomalies because much more rare) but who knows? Hopefully science will figure it out soon enough.

Yeah, it's a pretty interesting thing for them to find, though we do find it a little disheartening how unfocused the study seemed to be ( seemed it was something they came across by happenstance, which is how many things are disovered, but it still seems a litte worrisome). Nonetheless, if it all pans out, certainly something to get excited about.
