Of late I am having difficulty in remembering things resulting in embarrassment sometimes. I take B12, Ginko biloba and some other supplements. But this is happening at the same time. I would like to know from anyone who has gone/going through and overcome this problem to some extent.

I know when I am in a high range of my levels, my thinking is not as clear as it should be. The same happens when I am very low, but there are other things that happen then as well. So the highs are when I notice it more. It is one of the big changes that happened to me after diagnosis, my thinking process improved a lot. Boy was that a relief.

It's been getting progressively worse for me. Once upon a time you could rattle off a list of ten things for me to go do and I'd have no problem. Now I'm lucky to remember why I walked into a room. It's very frustrating, and I have noticed it's a lot worse when my BG is off.

I think, for us it has to do a lot with BG levels and when I try to focus on what I should be doing and try to dicipline myself the way I used to be, the scheme of things in mind gets erratic and lo the result is more disorganization but it dos,nt depress anymore. In fact I get to the point of enjoying my small adventures!

I too have had some memory issues and I believe diabetes is partly responsible. It is frustrating when I know what I want to say but cannot bring the word to mind that I want to use to express myself. From what I have read and experienced B12 is important as is controlling your blood glucose. Also there is a supplement put out by Jarrow called Neuro Optimizer that contains Cognizin and other nutrients that promote brain metabolism. I have found it very helpful. Also there is a natural compound called Huperzine A that has gained interest from health care professionals is recent years that supports learning and memory. Best of success in your efforts.

Re; "CRS": I've been taking CoEnzyme Q10—-it takes about 2 weeks for results but it is working. Memory —recall and focus have all improved. I anticipate increasing improvements…

Shah … don't get me started. LOL. I live through all experiences listed on the posts daily. Outside of being overtired continuously, forgetting things is pretty normal for both diabetics and the over 50 group. So as ston3xc suggests we are getting double whammed on this one. I notice though when both my bg spikes or when it gets low that it really takes its toll on me. I put salt in the refrigerator, juice in the cupboard, open up a juice bottle and wonder what my next step is, or rush to get something in my room which I can't figure out what it is when I get there (10 steps later)…

Enjoy life…it's an adventure…aging is hilarious…it beats the alternative any day…: )

mebetty.. I also wanted something to drag me to the fun side of it.For instance
I forget how serious I was about being serious yesterday. One fine morning I discovered how badly I was in love with myself, how much I cherish the foolies flowing out of my room into the laughter sessions of simple onlookers. I remember a nice aging lady taking me out to the park and after walking a couple of miles told me that I was funny instead of saying that it was fun to be with me. That was amusing and I fell in love with me the next day.So on Betty.Lol…Sayed.

Unfortunately, I also suffer from what our family likes to call "CRS" which stands for "Can't remember sh—"! It seems to be a normal side effect of aging. I don't worry about it too much. Beats the alternative.
I do get kinda befuddled when my BG goes too low, and then it gets better when my BG comes back up to normal.
You might want to do some kind of exercise/activity that works your brain, as James said. Maybe even crossword puzzles or Suduko might help. Something that challenges your brain everyday.
And no, you are not alone, happens to all of us.
Oh wait, what was the question? :-P

I also suffer from the "Therefore disease". I wander into a room and wonder what I am there for!

As far as the solution, I just keep active on DC which seems to help me by doing much of the research about this condition. It seems to keep me sharper.

I also take dancing lessons which helps me in a number of ways: It helps me with my social life and the concentration needed to learn and retain the patterns of moves helps me to stay sharp too.

Welcome to the club!! Did you know that when your bs gets high and a little out of whack, it kills ALOT of brain cells. Getting older kills ALOT of brain cells. Diabetics get a bum rap on that front, too. But here's the thing, forgetting things like names or where you put your glasses is normal because, face it, getting old sucks. When you finally find your glasses and then you don't know what to do with them- that - is when you worry!

I forget if I had taken the morning pill and may take it twice in that case. So many beautiful thoughts I would have put in verses pass in succession into oblivion.I constantly need someone to keep me directed to what I am supposed to be doing. Ah, man passes into nothingness without even noticing what is happening to him.

I just got a new pair of glasses a couple of days ago and I can't find them anywhere!!! I know what will happen, I'll go buy a new pair of glasses and then I'll find the ones that I lost. It never fails. The only thing about it though is that they are prescriptions. So I guess I'll have 2 pair then!!!
