I do not understand how to do this and what the BMI(body mass index)is or what it means. Can anyone explain how to do this for me?

BMI is pointless, it is a measurement of height and weight. It completely ignores your body type and is why I think it's pointless. Eg, a 6 foot 230lb football player would be classed as obese because of their height and weight yet they may have a very low body fat %. You can calculate it here if you want http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

Body fat is a better tool I think. You can calculate it at home and can do it electronically as well as by the math. http://www.healthcentral.com/cholesterol/home...

Thanks KD, I agree that BMI is a useless tool. If a person is muscular they are still told they are fat like you said. I did try the body fat test and it's vegetables for me!!! LOL Although I just guessed at the measurements so maybe it's less… fingers crossed.. LOL

I remember Covert Bailey from when I was in graduate school! The muscles I gained from putting away 50# bags of flour (in my 50s) have kept me from getting flopping arms as I've aged, and kept my HDLs high! (However I am not so lucky with the rest of the lipid panel and take a mess of drugs to get those numbers in range.)

Anyway… I agree with KD, there is a difference between BMI and Body fat ratio.
