Hi PAs and CAs…would it be possible to add another category for Transplantation??? I am sure there are several members out there who have either been through a transplant or are waiting for one. I know if I would have had a place to talk about my transplant prior to it happening a year ago, it would have helped me out A LOT.

Thank you!
Kim

Thanks everyone for your replies and welcomes! I think transplantation, specifically kidney and pancreas, should fall under diabetes. It is one of the major complications that can happen to diabetics over time and I feel it should be a subcategory under the disease itself.

Well 49.5% of people in dialysis clinics are there due to diabetes the other 49.5% is there due to high blood pressure. the rest are there due to other causes. I believe there would and should be a "connect" for kidney patients since kidney patients have their own dietary restrictions and things for which we need to be concerned about.

I have a kidney transplant. It is 2 years ago next month. I have my life back. I take many pills thru the day. Found no problem. It just becomes a part of the day. My diet stays the same(diabetic). I enjoy my life. I wish the same for you.

have you asked Alliance Health to put together a Kidney Connect? If not see my instructions below and please ask them for Kidney connect.

Howdy Kim! WELCOME to DC!

point your mouse to the upper black band where it says "visit another community" There is a link on that drop down box which under "suggestions" asks "What would you like our next community to be?" You can write your suggestion and they'll see it quicker than in a discussion question.

I have been advocating for a Kidney community for a while and would appreciate anyone who would go there to the suggestons and request a Kidney community.

Thanks

James Baker

I am a Liver transplant candidate suffering from type 2 diabetes. I can't take drugs except liver therapy and insulin. I would be nice to have a transplantation section.

Hi Jimmy…that is how I was right before my kidney transplant. Along with being given a bevy of foods I could not eat as well. You'll get through it!! :)
