Here is the list of the website gives of symptoms of diabetes that occur on our skin: inflamed, red or hot skin tissue; itchy rashes; light brown, scaly patches; dull, red, raised areas; any skin that becomes hairless, thin, cool and shiny; blisters; and firm, yellow, pea-like enlargements in the skin among others.
I have noticed that most of us (by a huge margin) have several other issues. Not all of mine are caused by diabetes but all of them are affected. They say that when you are young you feel that you are invincible and I took that to the limit.
All organs are effected by diabetes.
Why does it have to do that. This disease shouldn't exist. I really didn't need Diabetes dropped on top of all the other misery I have. We should take a vote and vote this one out of exsistence. I vote gone.
I am right with you on that. Tahnk God I have not had any complications or an organs "knock on wood" that have been effected after 31 years of being diabetic. My anniversary is coming up on October 9th it will be 32 years since being diagnosis witht he disease.
Wow 32 years that's a long time. Congrats on no knocked out organs. That gives me hope that I can have everything in tact too. I'm 62 if I add 32 year to my life I'll be able to die with everything in tact! Keep up the good work.
Thank you I will. You do the same.
Even your skin-which is considered the largest organ of your body.
ReAlly?
yuppers! Think about it. It covers your whole body.
Every organ and every system in your body is affected. If blood is pumped to it, it can be affected. (this is my final answer LoL! Now when do I get the $1 million?)
BK, I agree with both answers provided. One suggestion,if I may.I've been a diabetic over 25 yrs. I have tempted fate all those yrs, now,I have numerous complications as a result. Look at my profile to see them all. Take your illness seriously.I didn't and at 69 I'm suffering, when I didn't have to brig this about. Please take care of yourself. Pete
Bogy..same here. I've had it for 35 years and am suffering all the compllications now. You are right..it doesn't have to happen. The one thing about diabetes is, if you don't feel bad at the time, one tends to act badly and igore the diabetes. I did that at least. But..it catches up and boy…with a vengence! f
Kim that seems to be the nature of the Beast. I don't know about you but I thought ,"Well it's not affecting me now .,I'll deal with the complications later". Well later is NOW.Like you put it," It has caught up witht me …with a vevgence." If others would only heed our advice,I would feel that I made some helpfull contributions. Take care and keep in touch. Pete
Hey Pete…sounds like you and I are in the same boat. Maybe you are the captain and I am Julie McCoy, the cruise director. :) Seriously though, it is so true…later comes and it changes your life tremendously. AND those in your life who are closest to you. That is the thing about diabetes…it isn't just about you..it's about everyone in your life. Glad you friended me Pete!! Sounds like we can support each other a lot. :)
BK, the easier question would be, "Which organs are not affected by Diabetes?" I believe the answer is none. It "goes" throughout the body.
So true Jim…I have had problems with my shoulders hurting and my orthopaedist said..oh yeah, that is frozen shoulder..it is from your diabetes. Sigh..well of course!
I just did the google and found the American Academy of Orthopedics Surgeons explanation here: http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=a00071 I hope this helps you. Now I am prepared just in case.
Mary
Now I am going to have to google frozen shoulder. I have never heard of it. I hope there is a treatment plan that can help you with it. You have gone through a transplant, using Humulin 70/30 instead of a pump. What more is going to be thrown at you.
May God help you,
Mary
